I’m a big fan of GMail, but I have experienced some bugs with it. For awhile, it was being very forgetful of my display images settings. (This is a feature that allows me to essentially, whitelist particular senders so that images embedded in the mail messages are automatically displayed.) The problem seems to have been fixed, but there’s another problem that is driving me nuts.

The GMail spam filter is one of the best, if not the best, in the business. However, certain messages are inexplicably sent to my spam folder, despite being on my contact list. GMail states that if you want to avoid having certain senders email from being flagged as spam, just add them to your contact list and this will fix the problem (unless two conditions hold true — if the message is not authenticated and the sender is yourself, so they say.)
But what I’m seeing is that mail from authenticated senders, is still being incorrectly marked as spam, and also as phishing. One such sender is Secunia, an organization that works to help protect the Internet by allowing Windows users to run scans for missing software updates.
For these senders that are incorrectly being marked as spam, despite being in my contacts, I’ve had to resort to creating filters to stop the buggy GMail spam/phishing system from putting them in the wrong place.
Maybe it’s time for Google to put the Beta tag back on. Is anyone else experiencing these problems?
