I have an eee PC 1005HAB and it has the same problem...power cord seems to overheat. I have been using this PC a lot over the last year and have noticed that the a/c cable will not shut down if the battery is installed and fully charged. It's only when the battery looses most or all of its charge that it shuts off the cable like that, at least on mine. I find this really strange, because it almost makes it seem like the problem is with the PC, instead of the a/c cord, but I'm not sure how that could be.
